Membership Code of Conduct

As members of the International Protective Security Board, we represent a global community of professionals entrusted with the safety, privacy, and well-being of others. Membership in IPSB is both a privilege and a responsibility. The following Code of Conduct establishes the standards of behavior, integrity, and professionalism expected of all members to uphold the credibility and advancement of the executive protection profession.

 

1. Uphold High Moral and Ethical Standards

  • Conduct yourself with honor, integrity, and respect in all professional and personal interactions.

  • Demonstrate the judgment and discretion expected of those who serve in positions of trust.

  • Represent IPSB’s mission and values both within and outside official activities.

  • Avoid conduct that could diminish the reputation of IPSB or the profession as a whole.

 

2. Personal Conduct, Legal Standing, and Eligibility

  • Members must be of high moral character and demonstrate a pattern of lawful, ethical behavior consistent with the responsibilities of the protection profession.

  • Individuals with felony convictions, or misdemeanors including persons crimes, crimes of violence and sexual offenses, and some theft or drug-related charges (subject to committee or board review), are ineligible for membership and may be subject to review or removal if discovered post-admission.

  • Members are expected to maintain clean legal standing; behavior that is litigious, unethical, or contrary to the values of integrity and professionalism is strongly discouraged.

  • Any criminal, civil, or professional disciplinary action that could bring disrepute to IPSB must be disclosed to leadership immediately and may result in suspension or termination of membership.

  • IPSB reserves the right to conduct background verification or require attestation of compliance with these standards.

 

3. Foster a Culture of Respect and Inclusion

  • Treat all members, partners, and participants with professionalism and courtesy, both in person and online (these are the “house rules” for all IPSB-related chats, events, and communications).

  • Encourage constructive dialogue and diversity of thought while maintaining mutual respect.

  • Maintain an environment free of harassment, discrimination, or intimidation.

 

4. Maintain Confidentiality and Discretion

  • Protect any sensitive, proprietary, or privileged information shared within IPSB or among members.

  • Do not disclose or distribute confidential materials without authorization.

  • Respect the privacy and operational security of fellow members and their clients.

 

5. Demonstrate Professionalism and Accountability

  • Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects positively on IPSB and the protective security profession.

  • Fulfill commitments, communicate clearly, and demonstrate reliability in collaborative efforts.

  • Accept constructive feedback and take responsibility for actions that may negatively affect others or the organization.

 

6. Avoid Conflicts of Interest

  • Disclose any personal, professional, or financial interests that could create a real or perceived conflict with IPSB’s mission or impartiality.

  • Do not use IPSB membership or resources for personal, commercial, or political gain outside approved activities.

  • Promote mentorship, knowledge sharing, and collaboration that strengthens the organization and the profession.

 

7. Compliance, Enforcement, and Review

  • Violations of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including formal warning, suspension, or revocation of membership.

  • IPSB reserves the right to review member conduct and eligibility at any time to preserve the integrity of the organization.

  • An individual whose membership is denied or revoked may appeal to the IPSB Board of Directors, whose decision will be final.

 

8. Member Attestation

By applying for or renewing membership in the International Protective Security Board, I affirm that I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the IPSB Membership Code of Conduct.


I certify that I meet all eligibility requirements, have no disqualifying criminal history as defined herein, and will promptly disclose any changes in my legal or professional standing.


I understand that IPSB membership is a privilege, and I accept that any violation of this Code may result in disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of membership.
