TJ Klomp joined Amazon in August 1999. As the Chief Physical Security Officer, he leads all of Amazon’s physical security efforts at Amazon corporate offices, Amazon MGM Studios locations, and events worldwide. Prior to becoming the Chief Physical Security Officer in 2024, he served as Vice President, Protective Services. In his role as Vice President Protective Services, TJ developed and expanded a specialized emergency response capability across Amazon’s campuses and Data Center locations; built intelligence analysis functions to inform and support Amazon’s safety and security worldwide; and developed the team’s tailored suite of physical security across Amazon business lines as the company expanded.  An expert in emergency response and protective intelligence, TJ is also responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and leading Executive Protection for Amazon’s founder between 1999 and 2015, and his team now provides world-class protection for Amazon’s CEOs and senior executives. 

Prior to joining Amazon, TJ was a person crime detective for Kirkland Police Department in Washington, where he also worked undercover and served on the SWAT team. TJ holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law & Justice from Central Washington University and currently lives in Washington with his wife.
